5 Reasons to Choose K-Style Gutters

Gutters are more than a home accessory, though they can add to the appearance of a house. In areas that see seasonal storms with wind and rain, water can do a lot of damage to a home’s foundation, and gutters are important to moving water away from where it can do the most damage.

But which kind of gutters are best for your home? As you learn more about your options, consider K-style gutters. Learn more about just five of the benefits that K-style gutters can offer you.

1. Easy to Install

Gutters are most effective when placed along the edges of your roof, where water will slide down after a storm. This means that the best place for them is a tricky place to reach, so often applying gutters takes a lot of time and can be quite difficult.

K-style gutters, however, are simple to install. The shape of the gutter — which is where it gets its name from — has one flat side that can sit flush with the fascia board on the edge of a roof. Installers can simply nail that flat side to the roof, which is quicker than other gutter styles that require brackets or other more complicated means of attachment.

2. Common Choice

Curb appeal is sometimes a difficult thing to nail down, but in general, houses that strike the balance of in-trend and timeless tend to do well. Features that are uncommon or may divide buyers are riskier investments, while tasteful features are likely to only have a positive impact.

K-style gutters have been the gutter of choice in construction for many decades, which means that potential buyers are used to seeing them and likely will appreciate them. Plus, because they’re so commonly used, it’s easy to find professionals who can install, maintain, repair, and replace them.

3. Decorative Style

While K-style gutters attach easily to a home via their flat side, the outward-facing side of the gutter is much more pleasing to look at. The decorative side of the gutter has a built-up set of curves and edges that almost looks like crown molding, a popular element in homes that adds a touch of elegance.

K-style gutters can also come in many different colors, which means that you can choose a color that will complement your home and either draw the eye or blend in to the roof.

4. More Water Capacity

Gutters’ main function is to gather water from the roof and transport it away from the home’s foundation. But some gutters carry more water than others. K-style gutters are deep, especially when compared to half-round gutters, which are shallow troughs. K-style gutters can carry twice as much water as half-round gutters, which means that’s twice as much water that can transported away from the house in the same amount of time.

In regions that see a lot of rainfall, this is particularly helpful in maintaining the health of the foundation. But even if you don’t get a lot of rain, chances are that K-style gutters will be able to handle all of the rainfall you do experience.

5. Material Options

Whether you want a specific look or added durability, K-style gutters can deliver. They come in many different materials, like:

  • Aluminum. The most common, these are lightweight and won’t rust.
  • Copper. These provide a distinctive look to your home’s exterior.
  • Steel. Those these are heavy, they are extremely strong.
  • Vinyl. These come in a variety of colors and are inexpensive.
